I don't understand how they think the armed forces and other civil services to keep woking when there is that huge chance that they actually might not get paid.

That's the thing- the critical government employees are still appropriated the necessary funds. It's just everyone else that works for the government that suffers.

It looks like they reached a deal at like 11pm last night. So shutdown averted.

Why stress out about something you have zero control over?
If you don't have one, no time like the present to establish an emergency living expenses fund.

I live paycheck to paycheck, and still am slowing failing at life. The money I do have in there is supposed to be for school, as it's my student loan, but if it was going to come to that I had about 2 months worth.

reasons to have a years worth of your living expenses saved up.
THIS is the problem. Americans splurge & don't save. Regardless if it's the politicians, or the citizens. Once the credit card was invented & Americans had the ability to put it on charge, we were fucked.
We can fix this. Got too many bills? Get rid of cable TV & your cell phone. Regardless of what you think you don't need them. Get rid of well-fair & other hand holding, ass wiping funds & let America learn how to fend for themselves. This country is currently raising it's children with the mindset, educational level, & working career goal to be customer service & telephone technicians.

i have a years worth of living expenses saved up, i wasn't gonna go poor losing my job or anything, but it's still stressful when i wanted to use my savings for OTHER things like a trip to europe, and the possibility that if the shutdown had happened i would have no idea how long it would last and would have a hard problem budgeting because of it.

That's a perfect example of responsibility vs a false sense of entitlement.

Well I'm a poor college student trying to rise out of poverty. Damnit, I try.
