You know what always bothered me...

The 6 hour appointment window cable companies give when they are coming to your house.


When I drove tractor trailer my father's company hauled POVs, personally owned vehicles. This means we hauled cars for snow-birds, regular joes, ebay motors purchases, etc. Auctions and dealerships were only filler for the dead seasons.

We drove from the Florida Keys to Maine, and anywhere east of the Mississippi. Sometimes we would even go west if my dad was bored and felt like visiting the desert.

I could be in Boston and get a call for an estimate on a delivery from dispatch (my step-mom). A car to be picked up in lets say Miami to be delivered to Queens. I would be able to estimate with in an HOUR what time we'd be in Miami to pick it up, and with in an hour of when we'd be in Queens next week to drop it off.

With out fail...

I think their excuse is they have no idea how complex a job is going to be before they get there. If someone calls them out because "my tv isn't working" and it's a cable unplugged, they can just move on to the next appointment. If, on the other hand, a construction crew a block away accidentally took out the junction box for the neighborhood, it might take them a bit longer.
