Every President says they will change this or that when stumping but when they finally get in office they find out that their leverage is a lot less than they thought it would have been.
To me, who the president is, is not that important, he (or she) is barely more than a figurehead (with veto rights of course). If congress would live inside their budget like all of us have to, we'd/they'd be be a lot better off. And if they would stop borrowing from social security there would be an ever bigger deficit. The treasury owes a lot to SS. I don't have any figures but probably a couple trillion $. I say let us have our own savings account for SS. [rant]I'd also say: You congress people have no F'ing right to tell me I have to have/buy anything like health care. [/rant]
As for The Donald?? I'd have to hear his ideas. Plus with his money he might just be able to BUY the office.

You should have read the fine-print on those voting ballots...
Health-care shouldn't be optional, really. It's one of those basic human rights your government should just take care of.
(Not that the health-insurance and/or pharmacological companies would allow that...)
... but, anyways.
Donald Trump. As president? His specialty is making cutbacks, right? He should be able to put a dent in those 10 trillions.
(Anything is better than that Palin character, in any case. Crazy people really shouldn't be allowed near those nuclear missile codes.
A more interesting question. Do you get to vote for the people who pull the strings? The people that choose which two candidates you are allowed to vote for? (I've always pictured a big dark room, with a ring table filled with shadowy figures, each underneath a company flag, debating which two candidates would be "suitable".)

Truthfully, he said that. Perhaps if he's not going to say things of value, he shouldn't be providing interviews in front of a microphone on national television.

What I thought Donald was addressing (and perhaps I'm giving him too much credit here) is the common misconception about the war in Iraq. If we went in solely for the purpose of oil, why did we not nationalize the resources when we took down the country in 2003? Why didn't we bid on the oil fields this past year?
Resources as a catalyst for war has been and will continue to be. His point was, if we're going to invade for resources we go all the way, period.

People said Obama would do us loads of good, and now some of those people are saying they where mistaken.
I don't really have an opinion (that matters) on the subject, since I'm not old enough to vote, but I like to know what we're getting ourselves into in the future since I will be old enough soon.
I can agree with you. In the beginning my dad said Obama looked like he was going to be a good president but he is disappointed. If he isn't afraid to fire people like he does then maybe he wouldn't be afraid to fire North Korea or Afghanistan off the map. I don't know. Too early to tell really.

Normally I would concede that you are probably right, but in this case I think he's getting too much credit. This is the same guy that wants a birth certificate for Obama.
The thing is the problems he brings up are valid, while his solutions are only going to make them worse.

In certain aspects like streamlining financial operations, economics, etc., I think Trump would be good. In foreign policy, I think that would be one of his faults, like with the Bush administration.

If you wanted a businessman to run things, Steve Forbes made a run some years back and he actually had at least a couple of interesting ideas. It ought to be a national embarrassment that Trump's even being discussed for the White House and most of that is an underlying media desire to distract from the current president's performance woes. No better way to ignore a buffoon failure than to shine a light on an even bigger buffoon failure.
Surely with 300,000,000+ people we can find someone better than this jackhole. Mind you, I've said that the past 5 elections and been correspondingly disappointed.

...snip
agreed!
My mother came to me and asked me if I thought their was a chance he could win. She was concerned and scared of the idea. I looked at her and was responded that the only reason he has this much spotlight is because he's riding on people who are dumb as rocks and everyone else who is scared shitless of the idea (and both groups certainly criss-cross frequently).
And that is embarrassing. The fact that we have so many people who are so 'interested' in this idea is mind boggling. I always thought elections were like game shows, but come on... I felt the contestants should at least be Jeopardy smart, not Family Feud smart.

This is the truth. Sadly, those best equipped to hold such power don't want to. I'm sure somebody famous said that better.
