How to make an XP installing USB stick

Posted 20 April 2011 - 01:07 AM

Dear following members of Dream in Code,
:genius:

I wish to learn how to take an standard USB-stick, take an XP CD-ROM, take the content of the CD-ROM and make the USB-stick an medium for installing XP on netbooks or computers without CD/DVD reader.

I know there is several guides at my fingertips on Google, but after trying some and failed, my question to you fellow members is if yourself have any experience making this type of USB-stick?

I know, I know, Windows 7 is 'da shit', but then my whole IT infrastructure at home need to be replaced for Windows 7. New desktop, new printers, router and so on. Since I also work from home, that makes the matter even worse.

Please :helpsmilie: ?

Yours Truly
Winky ^^

Uhm as far as i know there is such thing for windows 7. However are you sure that the PC can boot from USB? Another thing that you can do is instead of using USB some of the BIOS can support booting from network. Try formatting your USB as bootable and copy the XP CD on it.

If my understand is correct, you might benefit from making a PE disk. The procedure is same for USB drives. I am currently working with this utility:

Firstly you have to make your pendrive bootable by using HP's s/w.After that you have to put windows xp's image or copy all files which is in CD/DVD.
Then change your BIOS priority to USB.
After that you can able to install windows xp in Desktop or Laptop.

change bios to boot from pen (if supported)
