similar to maxcore, when i boot there are a couple of options for os to go to..
i used to have 3 or 4 xp's to choose from, ( i guess i dont erase them well ) but it would at least pick the right one so i never messed around with it and it would boot normally.
now when i boot my choices are windows xp , and windows xp setup...
and it selects the setup thinking you are trying to repair or reinstall etc...
but then it just gets stuck at the loading screen and will never do anything else,
i have to manually select the other windows xp option. and we know that waiting to get to that screen during a reboot is just annoying because you could take two minutes to go outside and get some fresh air or take a shower.
so how do i fix it.
also,
since installing my new 400 gig drive which is sata and connected via pci since my motherboard is ancient, windows takes 20 minutes to boot. had my pops look at it and he said it has something to do with that drive and im guessing the raid setup. no reason for me to need a raid setup. i just want the hardrive to work without taking 20 minutes to boot. (its timed at 20 min 14 seconds). so, any idea about that?
thanks.
ilove you all.

try the removing a dual boot tutorial
If there is a second item in the boot list it should work just fine. If the option still appears after removing the 2nd option, run your xp disk and choose repait, and type:
fixboot
fixmbr
to correct the boot sector.
as for the drive if it is running at a much slower speed it could cause boot issues: stalls or just slow downs.
