Here's the deal though, as much as some of you may dislike Christians sharing with you, think about it. How much would they have to hate you NOT to share about a place that is described as that awful? They'd be some rather poor Christians. At least consider that if someone shares with you in the future, whether or not you believe, it means they care.

In that case: here's the deal, as much as you may dislike Atheists criticizing you for what you believe, think about it. How much would they have to hate you to NOT want you to believe in things they deem silly and wasteful? They'd be some rather poor human beings to tolerate such horrifying things. At least consider that if someone is bothered by your beliefs in the future, whether or not you believe, it means they care.

Seriously, how many situations that that bullshit apply to? Just thinking that you're doing the right thing does not mean you're actually doing the right thing.

I'm going to throw my 10 cents into this. I am christian and believe in god, but I SEVERELY doubt the world will end saturday and here is why. An earthquake to end it alL? I mean, come on is that even logically possible? An earthquake whose magnitude is strong enough to wipe us all out is a ridiculous idea :(

..And ironically, Atheists are accused of having an "always right" attitude when they actually know they can be wrong and thus ask others and find evidence (and even so, skepticism should not be so easily cured).

The earthquake was just supposed to be the start of a 5 month "Judgement Day" process, if I read that correctly.

Makes more sense than a 40 day flood though :P

Never said I was always right.

I'm just saying that if a Christian says something to you it means they at least care, whether or not you think they're right. That's irrelevant to what I was saying. I'm just saying keep an open mind to things like that.

Who says that Christians aren't skeptic about things? You think that all of us take the kool-aid and jump off a cliff hoping that something will happen? You're confusing the entirety of religion for thoughtless sheep that have never given anything a second thought.

While this may be true in some instances, there are quite a few of us who have gone through justification and have come to the conclusion that we still believe.

I don't intend to derail this into another "Is God Real" threads, we have enough of those already.

As far as I'm concerned I've done enough to believe that this is the right way and there is a God.

Did I instantly jump for it out of some deranged fantasy concept of fire and brimstone? No, I evaluated it like you claim no Christian does, weighed the possibilities, and concluded that this was the correct way.

It's insulting that people believe we're all blind sheep who don't think, that's hardly the case, but to be fair it does happen a lot.

EDIT:

@ Atli - How many religions and other doctrines quote a great flood in that time period?

well, to be fair, you aren't giving them any reason to think otherwise when you admit to believing everything was created by a magic dude in the sky.

Maybe nobody is wrong. Maybe we are all right, and everybody else is wrong.

I think you may have misunderstood me though. I just meant an earthquake would make more sense as a doomsday device than a flood. (A boat will shake apart like everything else.)

Why are most atheists so completely against religion? I mean, if you don't believe in God so be it, but why do you feel the need to prove you're 'right'? It's called faith because it doesn't need empirical evidence.

Frankly I find it kind of disrespectful and I would expect some of you guys to be a bit more classy. Some of you acted exactly how I thought you would, annoying and making me groan audibly. Hahaha
