want to build my media center pc,
not sure about things,
so let me hear your setups and see what i need to do.
not sure how it all interacts with each other and that sorta thing.
dont know if i should install windows media center, or vista,
i am buying this remote no matter what, i will kill for it, so if it only works with vista, may have to do that :

vista costs me like 15 bucks starting in april at UT austin, so not a big deal to buy a couple copies.
sideshow may be the greatest part of any os ever. i know the idea has been around forever but until it was hardcoded into the os it could never be used like it is now.
Anybody got a media center setup ? share.

I have media center on my new laptop and I must say. I like that I can hook into my television while playing Games or watching videos on it. Not so sure about vista. I have heard it can be a little resource intensive at times. I would suggest going with media center. The remote looks sweet. Wonder if it will work for my laptop?

I have a PC that would make a decent media center but it is currently just a desktop
I Built it several years ago before there was such a thing as a media center
Single core (athlon 3200+) 1 GB pc2700 ddr
2 80GB Hdd's
Ati Radion 9600pro all in wonder (tv tuner Fm tuner video capture etc etc etc)
pioneer A07 DVD burner
Remote wonder 2 remote.
And it has sucked ever since for the media stuff. I swear the ATI tuner software is buggy as shit and throws a liner amp on the gain for the Tuners
Because when I listen to the FM tuner it is all staticky but when I close out the FM tuner SW it closes out the program and the audio stream clears up.
The routene goes fire up program tune in local station (usually cost to coast am) close program listen to wacko's go on about aliens while working on the farm books.
