QUESTION: How to attach files in SQL2000 with VB6 on front end? Thx

Posted 20 July 2011 - 12:38 AM

How to store and retrieve files (.doc / .jpeg) in sql2000 with vb6 on front end?
I'm wondering how will I able to save my .txt or .doc(x) files on my back end. I just want it to be attached to my database then retrieve it anytime I want to. This is for the compilation matter.

Is it possible if this would be the case?:
I already saved the file on my database. I wanted to see it so Im going to open it using the program by just clicking a specific object (command, textbox, etc.) then the definite document will appear simultaneously.

I'm not sure storing the files in the DB is the correct way to go.

You should have the files on the Server and in the DB, maybe have a description and a full path to the relevant file.
