I wanted to go Sith but my group of mates I always play mmo's with were like 'Noooo gotta go Jedi pew pew' and I'm like :sigh:

I currently have subscriptions for 2 accounts on WoW, 4 accounts on EVE, and 1 account on Rift yeah, me loves my online games. Addict much?
Which reminds me, really need to cancel some of them.

Ok, that 'sigh' emote sucks :whatsthat:

I was heavily absorbed into WoW for about two years. Top tier raiding, that sort of thing. One week, I realized that I'd rather stay at work for a few extra hours and use that as an excuse for not raiding. I thought "holy shit, WoW has become more of a job than my actual job." So I dropped it like a hot potato.

Of course, I was and am a huge Star Wars nerd, so I simply can't resist trying SW:TOR. I've already preordered it.

And yes, I realize the population is going to be something like 70% Jedi for the first few months. I'll probably be one too, since playing a RP game as an evil character is actually less immersive for me (evil is simply less realistic...I can't understand the motivation behind a character who is an asshole for the sake of being an asshole), and playing anything without a lightsaber in a SW game is just odd.

But I figure that, if Bioware did a good job, the other classes will be fun, so people will start playing them when they realize that everyone else is a Jedi. Actually, I might play whatever class is the healer, since those are going to be in the most demand for raiding and grouping.

You could always just ask supersloth how he does it.

Can you start off as a Jedi, and then once you get all the skills go rogue? That would be pretty cool. All the tricks of a Jedi but make your living as a bounty hunter or something. That way you could be cooler than a Jedi because you can still use mind tricks but you can also poke chicks and own stuff.

Well no kidd'n. Neutral Evil alignments blow. Self serving evil is so yaaaawn boring. It's all about Lawful Evil or Chaotic Evil. Nut up and make a choice. Go big or go home.

The real problem I've had was with games that were shallow on morality. For instance, Mass Effect (and ME 2). There's "paragon" and "renegade". "Paragon" is a sappy, self-sacrificing, saccharin-sweet hero, and "Renegade" is a dickhead; you say mean things and intimidate people. At one point, you punch a female reporter in the face in ME2 as a Renegade action. I loved these games, but the moral choices and conversation system was a bit much to swallow. The good option gets old, the bad option makes you a dick, and the neutral is normal and tolerable, except it doesn't give you any points, which you need to unlock conversation options later. I wish there was a game that I'd play and say "what choice would I make here", rather than "what choice is going to give me the most dickhead/angel points"?

i generally make a pure evil guy in any game i play. i love in fallout 3 when your dad asks you about blowing up MegaTon.

"i heard you blew up megaton...we need to have a talk about that"

as to the MMO, i don't play MMOs at all. if im going to play a multilayer game then it better be competitive and not in the sense of how many hours of your life you lost clicking shit on a screen to level up your character.

uhm i dont think i follow your logic here. you play RPG games(and games in general) which is measured with loosing X hours of your life to level your char(or finish the game in general) while you dont play MMORPGs in which you can actually compete against other players or team up with them?

allow me to explain. in a game like WoW you waste hours simple clicking on stuff. as far as i can tell there is no skill involved just lots of time. with an RPG it's not multiplayer im just doing my thing. with a game like counter strike (multilayer) there is actually something to do other than just clicking things, there is actual skill involved. most MMORPGs are just clicking on stuff untill you have clicked on something so many times you level up. saying you have a level X character just means you clicked on something more than the next guy. saying you have a 25-1 KD ratio shows that you have a skill that not everyone has.
