What the most number of updates that your OS need to install in one go?
Just waiting 98 (that's ninety eight) to be installed in XP (Win7 XP-Mode).

Both Windows 7 and Vista have always insisted on doing a one time megaupdate consisting of about 50-70 updates, I'm sure that other people have experienced this. It usually happens shortly after a fresh install of the OS.

I regularly have to run Windows Update on countless customer computers and a fresh install of Windows XP usually has 121 updates in the very first pass. I do not include Windows Live, or Windows Search 4.0, and there are a few others that I exclude. After that initial pass, there's usually a few more passes of 50+, then maybe one last pass of less than 20 updates. After everything is said and done, a single computer with a fresh install can take all day just to run updates.

I don't even update, they don't do shit except fix bugs only one or two people experience.

I usually get 30ish updates every time I do it. I try to update at least once every 2 weeks so I don't have to wait forever on 100 updates.

Why not make it a competition? See who can find the operating system and version that loads the largest number of updates on a new install. It'll be EPIC! And by EPIC, I mean possibly of slight interest!

If they would make unobtrusive updates for windows that don't take down the entire computer every 5 minutes then perhaps I might consider switching back. Linux live updates for the win. (Save version changes, but that's acceptable at 2+ months normally)

When I was on Linux I was also on a dialup connection. Almost never updated anything, and when I did, it was very selective updates. Right now, my Linux box has some 700 MB worth of updates that haven't been installed. There wont be any updating until the next Ubuntu LTS release.
I update periodically on this mac though. I guess the most I've installed at one time so far is like 5.
