Is there a website where i can write php and view it?

Posted 19 August 2011 - 08:53 PM

I know there's things to download to view it but i'm often busy in other tabs on firefox and i would like to just view it and change it as i go to view it and see if it actually works!

I wasn't sure where to post this because its kind of offtopic but its not exactly a programming question per say. . .

Moved to Web Development. This is not off-topic

These are called hosting sites. See this search for a list of some.

You can also setup a local server, which I prefer to do for testing. I would suggest XAMPP, WAMP, LAMP, MAMP, or installing, Apache 2, PHP 5, MySQL 5, and I like to have PHPmyAdmin.

I agree with setting up a local server for development. I would recommend Abyss Webserver if you're not too familiar with servers or how they work. Apache can be a bit daunting for someone unfamiliar - Abyss is pretty easy to setup and use (providing you're using a Windows box). As for Linux/Mac, I'm not too sure about those.

Well, all the ones I said are easy to set up, granted if you are good at clicking several buttons and check boxes (I'm sure you are.) If you're trying to setup up on Linux, I was given a great Terminal command that did it all for me. Here it is sudo apt-get install apache2 php5-mysql libapache2-mod-php5 mysql-server phpmyadmin, that install stuff I usually use like Apache 2, PHP 5, MySQL 5, and PHPmyAdmin.
