Need some stomachs on the ground in DC..

Posted 13 September 2011 - 08:26 AM

The Chipotle founder is branching out into asian cuisine market with a new chain called "ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen". It's opened/opening in Dupont Circle in DC. I need someone in the area to accept a mission and investigate for me... er.. us. Pictures, offerings, personal reviews, and so forth.

Now that's out of the way.. From what I understand this will be like the regular Chipotle but all Asian.. and junk.

Customers go through an assembly-line of selection, choosing rices, veggies, sauces, and garnishes based on cuisine from Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia.

Menu items include bahn mi sandwiches, noodles, and rice bowls. The pork and chicken meatballs were my personal favorite addition, as well as the green papaya slaw and the toasted rice topping. Curries run the gamut from mild to extraordinarily spicy.

Outside of the unsightly underwear stains I clean with Chipotlaway I love me my foiled burrito so I can't see what would go wrong with the same thing but in Asian food (already known to be dirt cheap). Asian food that's 1300+ calories!

I am a little concerned the website is a directory of files.

Erm...I found this pic. It's labelled "kitchen.jpg"

I think I'll be okay with my weekly sushi restaurant visit.

Yeah - that's of a classic "shophouse" in legit (versus illegit) SE Asia.
