I am buying a new laptop for uni. I know this question has been asked many many times but i am not very good when it comes to picking a laptop so i thought i would ask here.
It will be an ASUS but i dont know which particular one to buy.
Things i will be doing:
1) Programming
2) Browsing the internet
3) Listening to music
4) Watching online videos
Things i will not be doing:
1) Playing games
So if anyone can suggest anything i would REALLY appreciate it.
Price range: up to 1000 dollars.
Thanks in advance!!
New laptop question.

If you're looking for a workstation/multimedia center, I would go for monitor resolution in addition to all the usuals. Newegg has 3 Asus 15.6 inch laptops at $900 a piece with a resolution of 1920x1080, which is light years ahead of many of their other laptops that only have 1366x768, and after looking at it for any length of time I guarantee you'll be glad of the extra pixels. Of those 3, they have 1 with i7/4GB/500GB, one with i5/6GB/640GB and one with i5/4GB/640GB. The only other difference between the 3 is the video card, but since you don't really care, you might as well go for the best CPU/memory combo, either the i7/4GB or i5/6GB.

So, what kind of programming are you going to be doing? If you're doing stuff with heavy tools, you probably want a powerful computer, but if you're just doing simple stuff from the command line, you probably can get away with less.

Yeah, yeah, we have opposite opinions on what's useful and what's dinking around. I'd prefer not to get into this discussion again, as I think we both realized we're not convincing each other of anything.

Good to know that we can have serious, intense discussions arguments, and still be friends afterwards.

Well, if you can't get into a good roaring fist-pounding argum discussion with your friends, what use are they?
