My Eyes..

Posted 16 September 2011 - 07:41 PM

No this is not the song by Nero. But guys I'm kind of worried. My vision has always been perfect but now my vision is starting to get blurry unless I really open my eyes wide and focus. I've been coding a lot lately and playing a lot of games. Any suggestions guys?

I'm kind of worried because it always has been perfect. kthxbai

First- go see the eye doctor. He or she will be able to better diagnose in comparison to a bunch of programmers online.

You're 14, right? Your body is going through a lot of biological changes. A lot of people find themselves needing glasses in middle and high school.

It's happening to me too. I'll probably just see a doctor at some point.

Be ready for some major changes! I hope you adjust quickly and I hope your vision can still be saved. ^^

@mac, yea I'm 14. If it stays like this for a while I will. Maybe I just need a break from the compooter. The thing that sucks is my parents just paid a ton for braces and that would suck to have to pay much more.

Thanks guys!

with in 1 year(probably less) my eye site went from 20/20 to 20/50. i see perfectly up close but more than 3 feet away and...well this morning there was a truck in my yard(propane truck) and i couldn't figure out what it was until i walked over to it. with glasses though my eye-site is perfect so it's not a huge deal. the only thing it effects is my driving and i have to remember to not state at anyone trying to figure out who it is for fear it might be a girl ....awkward :/

edit:
loss of zinc could be a contributing factor perhaps ;)

I didn't need my glasses until I was 13 or so, so I have to agree with Mac, it's just your body changing.

Thanks for more replies guys.

@hookie I'll try. It's a bad habit.
@iskabible mine's the opposite. I see fine far away and have trouble up-close.

You're just going partially long-sighted, I've gone partially short-sighted myself in the last year or so. I used to wear glasses a kid for a lazy eye but stopped about 10 years ago, and now due to being a programmer and constant gamer it's started to affect what would have happened eventually anyway considering my parents and sister all wear glasses, though only my dad is long sighted and my mum/sister are short sighted.

If you're going long-sighted then I'm afraid most of what you do will require glasses since you'll be on a computer or watching TV regularly and all the other day to day events. LS is probably the worst one to get since it affects so much whereas SS is manageable as long as it doesn't get too bad.

In middle school, I took the same eye test everyone else did and was told I needed glasses for distance. They did clear things up, but I was never that bad. By the time I took my driver's test, I managed do the eye chart exam without the glasses. I laughed at my dad who needed glasses to read, because it didn't make sense to me. Things getting fuzzy farther away makes sense.

At this point, I don't need glasses for distance at all. However, over the last few years I've found I need reading glasses, which is extra annoying.

As a side note, growing older can also mean new reactions to stuff you never thought about. I got allergies as I grew older. Some of those allergies will blur your vision right up.

Lol, sorry, serious Britism alert. On this side of the pond it's usually near and far sighted. I suppose because short sighted is basically an insult.

Yea over hear it would be called far sighted (what I am I think).

@baavgai Yea I've had a lot of allergies since I was born. Nothing really serious and nothing that has affected my vision luckily.

If it's blurry far away and clear up close, you're near-sighted, short-sighted in Britspeak.

If it's blurry up close and clear far away, you're far-sighted, long-sighted if you're across the pond.

I'm near-sighted.. my right eye is only 20/50, but my left eye is 20/110. I pay extra for those ultra-thin, feather-weight lenses to avoid looking like this:

Thanks! But honestly, the soul patch and the sideburns were no biggie. It was the transition from albino to super-tan that took some effort.
