Allow user to save settings for Windows form (C#)

Posted 26 October 2011 - 05:33 AM

Hi there everyone!
I think the title of this thread is pretty straightforward and self-explaining. I want to allow an user to change and save simple settings for a Windows form, i.e., change its caption text, the text on a label, or its color. Any ideas on how to do it?
I'm a C# newbie, so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

I would look into using and App.config file and having an edit type form to change the values for whatever properties or look into using a resources file which is probably more appropriate. A different example can be found here.

Save to a text file.
Save to the registry.
Save to Application.Settings

Finding answers to specific problems:
Sometimes just knowing where to look can make all the difference. Google is your friend.
Search with either "C#" or "MSDN" as the first word: "MSDN Picturebox", "C# Custom Events", "MSDN timer" etc.
How to do a good search that will get you targeted answers.
