I once went on the rampage and tried to organize all my music. During my craze, I got the bright idea to make the artist of all my mixed cds Mix (including things like soundtracks) because I was fed up with scrolling through 5 million artists. I do so regret doing that now and wish I had kept all the artist names accurate.
I also find I have separation anxiety with my music. I haven't even heard some of what I own - usually cds from friends that I haven't bothered to listen to. But because I think I *might* be inclined to listen one day, I keep it just in case. I also find my tastes change often, so the things I might not love now, I'll listen to in a couple months and fall in love with, so they get kept too.
The only real time I got a bunch of music together that I could put the whole collection on shuffle was when I had a rhapsody account and basically just started over with my music library.

I have all my song's on my iPod classic
I just do a shuffle all tho I do tend to skip a lot of the song's until I find a song I like because half the songs are crap my brother added including stuff from Miley Cirus and crapp like that hahaha. but I'v got to sort all my music again for the year coming. I have gotten a lot of different genres on there like drum and bass , techno , Australian hip hop, scremo , hardcore, post hardcore. all good stuff
