So I went and actually paid to see the worthless piece of crap that was 300.
They managed to take an excellent, inspiring, true story and turn it into a dumbed down piece of stylized hollywood crap.
Since when did the Persians have MUTANTS?
And is it really that hard of a leap to make that Leonidas would have the foresight to see the easiest crossing that Xerxes would have without sending a spy over to 'persuade' him to go through the mountains?
Granted, the visuals were pretty sweet. But after the first five minutes of terrible plot choices and hyper-unnecessary violence, I was about ready to walk out of the theater.

seriously.
i am glad you wasted your money to see it.
because now they will make more of them.
if you expected a history lesson,
or any sort of plot at all you obviously didn't see a trailer,
the studio came out and said in advance its about the effects,
its about sitting back in the theater for two hours and being entertained with as much gore, blood and comic book style visuals as possible.
....
i loved the movie. it did what it wanted to. and had quotes that i will be using for the rest of my life. when my kids talk back to me i will yell "this is sparta, and kick them down a flight of stairs." and i am naming my kitchen hell so that i can say tonight we dine in hell, every. day.

pleased to introduce you to comic book movies

please do not let the door hit you on the way out, i don't believe this movie was for you.
so, the other day i was at the comic store and they had an oversized version of 300 that was hardcover. i think i might go back and pick it up, 20 bucks isn't too bad a price.

Just finished reading the comics the other day. They were pretty awesome, although i had no idea it was based on a true story.
I was always more interested in the romans than the greeks.

I thought it was an awesome movie. I agree the dialog was sub, but the action made up for that.

The entire base of 29 Palms thinks its awesome. all 10,000 of us. who are you to disagree?
