I guess there's the metaphorical shame yoked around your neck that you let something in past you guard, but if you know the malware and you know how to defeat it there shouldn't be a problem. I would probably waste the resinstall time with shoring up your defenses.

I personally have never been infected from my own doing. Ive gotten to the point of scanning all my hard disk with malwarebytes and my antivirus every night, I have no script ad block plus and WoT add-ons for firefox. Wich i consider basic necessities.

I currently have a computer in my room with a a dual boot of windows 7 and Ubuntu Linux, I have literately tried to go to the 100th page of google searches and just click everything and install everything I possibly can but for whatever reason I cannot get an infected when I'm trying to get infected 0.0(trying to be infected for educational purposes of course)

I am not an expert by any means but I used to go out of my way to infect my pc and enjoy the thrill in the manual removal of Malware/trojans/viruses sounds like you have a rootkit to me and those can be a pain. just when you think they are removed they are back. I never recommend doing a reformat... its just... like giving up. so i say you 1 - study rootkits and enjoy removing it manually or 2 -download a rootkit remover.

use google and look for rootkit remover. symantec has a few.

I still think you would be better off just re-intalling the operating system and just restart :)

Formatting is the lowest form of computer repair. That's like going to the mechanic because your car gets bad gas mileage & they suggest just getting a new car.

It doesn't fix the problem, it simply side-steps it.

I had this exact same problem two weeks ago. Get Malwarebytes and do a full scan. It will catch the virus and alert you to all future viruses.

The problem with any repair for anyone is that they got the virus in the first place. This means they're just as likely to get it again and again because their habits will not change. The number one thing to remember in any tech job is that the human element is by far the most important, and also the most complicated and variable to deal with.

Even if you manage to get a great AV on that protects them, unless it auto-updates in the background or the user is a rare upgrade everything type, they're wide open in a matter of weeks. It's a vicious cycle that, like it or not, keeps us employed and paid well.

I have used this method and it works great.
1. Load and run malwarebytes
2. Load and run TDSSKiller
3. Load and run MSERT (microsoft program)
4. Load and run Super antispyware
5. Load and run CCleaner and clean all files including the registry (make sure to back up the registry when it asks you.

Rerun this process two more times just to be sure and make sure to adjust the settings so that it tracks and deletes everything.

Good luck
