How not to be a positive father figure

Posted 15 December 2011 - 11:20 AM

Man arrested for punching son at youth basketball tournament

Parents and onlookers are still coming to grips with the horrific scene they witnessed over the weekend at a youth basketball tournament game in Lakeville, Minn.

Witnesses reported seeing Wilson and his eighth-grade son -- whose name was not released -- walking down a hallway at Lakeville South (Minn.) High when the father grabbed the boy with one arm and began punching him in the face with the other.

Nearby parents had to physically intervene before the altercation was broken up. After calling local police to the scene, Wilson was arrested and spent the night in jail before posting $10,000 to get out without conditions.

That's like when you see parents run onto football fields or whatever and tackle the kid that just laid their kid on the ground.

I literaly despise child abuse. I was physically abused up until the summer of this year. I fucking hate it.

As a high school baseball coach, some parents have absolutely lost their minds. I have never seen anything like that but I have seen some very disturbing things. A lot of times it seems like the parents are trying to live out their dreams through their kids and when they don't succeed...or in many cases don’t succeed up to the parents expectations things like that happen. It's sad.

I almost got into fights with parents over kids play time. It is insane, even when you try to do right there are always two parents that are pissed off.

Oh yes... the classic drunken Randy Marsh trash talking other parents at a little kid's baseball game.

Wrestling parents are pretty damn bad too... that's the only place where I've seen two parents "take it outside" as their kids were on the mat... to settle who's kid is better on the mat.

I swear, when Titus first aired when I was a kid, I started looking over my shoulder expecting to find some intern spying on my family and me.

If you come from the archetypical late 20th century "dysfunctional/broken family", there will be at least 1 thing about the show you can relate to, and proceed to laugh your ass off non-stop.

As Christopher Titus opens with the sketch this show is based on:

"more than 60% of American families are dysfunctional. You know what that means? We're the majority!"
