It's impressive stuff for sure.

One went for just short of a grand (in real money) and has been donated to the Computer Museum at the Centre for Computing History.

One does wonder how marketable it is when every cellphone is a computer and it would take very little for the cell-phone industry to take a turn in this direction.

The biggest (or rather, the smallest) thing here is the price. Phones can compete with the functionality, but can get nowhere near that price level.

While it looks great, my main concern is that of CPU architecture. Since it's ARM it can't run the OS's that I want (mainly Ubuntu). Other than this, it looks great!

Ubuntu is not an OS, it is a distribution. This board seems to be able to run several versions of Linux.

I had a look on there forums/faq and while there are other linux distributions available there is no Ubuntu and since that's the linux system I prefer I am disappointed. However I guess I will have to swallow my pride and jump on another dist. of linux.

Ubuntu was originally going to be support but Ubuntu had to back out since they had troubles with getting Unity (I believe) to work on ARM. No doubt it will be back one day though. Besides, R-Pi will run Debian which is what Ubuntu is based on. It will also run Fedora, which is probably my favourite distro so far (expect perhaps Sabayon) and uses Gnome3 which looks a lot like Unity. Then of course you have Arch, which is perfect for a device like this!

Ubuntu isn't for really advanced users. You may want to venture into other distributions that can handle the Arm processor & architecture.

I've been aware of this system for a while, and can't wait to get one. Unfortunately it isn't available yet, I'm hoping they start selling them soon.
