Getting Information from MP3-G and CD-G Files

Posted 14 January 2012 - 12:02 PM

I've been searching the web on how to extract information from MP3-G and CD-G files. I want to extract the Song name and the artist from the file and store them into a database. I've found a possible way to do it but it requires more money than I have right now. So if anyone has ever messed with these file formats what kind of advice can you give? I've searched Codeplex and Sourceforge for an open source solution so I could learn from it, but I haven't had any luck as yet. A point in the right direction would be awesome. Thanks for the right way.

MP3-G and CD-G are Karaoke formats.

Here's extensive info on CD+G files and how to read the programmatically (with examples in C, but they can be easily translated): CD+G Revealed: Playing back Karaoke tracks in Software

You should be able to get all info about it there.

Cheers!

That's a very good read, and I'm not the least bit interested in working with CD+G.

Thanks for the link. I'll have to take some time and read it up on it. Hopefully it will help me out a lot.
