can you have a secondary page for the grid? i mean, i know i'm useless so i'll be avoiding the home page entirely then. but i'd see like the grid so i can stay on top of everything else that i want, not just shit deemed featured, you know?

Is there a problem with the Today's Topics??? That's what 99% of other forums rely on to see what's going on.

yeah you already nailed the problem with that. why can't you just void out the introduce yourself forum
actually it'd be ok if we just dropped it in general, it's a pretty stupid forum.

Not going to drop it entirely as it encourages folks to participate in the community, but I can remove it from the "Today's Topics" view.

K, I added the "Hang Out" group to the forum list on the left at the bottom so you can get to Introduce Yourself easily. I removed Introduce Yourself posts from the Today's Topics, and I'm still working on homepage tweaks.
Oh, and I re-did the "Today's Topics" page so it looks better and is easier to read.

its like a cluster fuck of words and they are all written in a foreign language. i would rather suck off my dog than ever see it again.
its true.
hey chris
while you adding these 'updates,'
can you please add a splash page?
thanks man.g

i think we should just offer both views on the page, so those who don't like the featured area can go to the normal grid. also, so we can tell people it's a work in progress until it's where we want it.
but i'm glad i wasn't the first to complain for a change

2 views aint gonna happen. I can improve the Today's Topics and try to accomodate those that absolutely refuse to use it, but the homepage is not going to be the place to go see what's new. It will be to showcase the best content.

also, i dislike the fact it shows my avatar (at a weird size too) and username but the original post. i got so confused at first when i saw another thread amadeus had replied too that was very clearly not his writing on the homepage.

Yeh, I noticed that too and I'm probably going to stick the original posters avatar there instead of the last reply. Just need to tweak it some more.
Is "Today's Topics" ambiguous? Should it say "View New Posts" instead? I realize the homepage may have given a more concise view of a few new topics, but the site is moving so quickly that the New Topics on the homepage were being bumped off so quickly it was almost useless to me personally.
I've been using "Today's Topics" for over a year now and rarely visit the homepage.

can we change the template on the todays topic page? make it a little closer in organization style to the way it was on the homepage? It's all in a weird order which I think may have a lot to do with why I don't use it that often. Our grid was a lot cleaner.

Yes, I already removed several columns to clean it up. But I can do more. I also cleaned up the homepage a little just now, made it a less more compact, but still less cluttered.
The homepage really won't do you any good in the near future though as it will be featured topics, so getting a good way to view new posts instead of going back to the homepage is what I'd like to do.

I think the changes are going pretty well. Initially things were definitely "a cluster fuck of words", but not so much any more. And now that I'm aware of Today's Topics (yeah, it's a little ambiguous), the front page redesign is cool.
Overall, I do like where you're going with this. It's an intro page; it makes sense to display featured content.
