About ready to shank a ho... Spent part of the day chasing down a mysterious error where our webservice wasn't working on the new site in test.... and then that spiraled out to "why isn't the current rendition isn't working? (ignoring that no one seemed to care)"..
Ah.. yes.. it was an issue of someone missed swapping one a webservice name (or decided arbitrarily to throw a '2' in there) with "ws2" with plain ol' "ws".

Packing as fast as I can 'cause my landlord says I need to get out of my room by today. Called the office to beg a day off. Got refused as there is gonna be a release today. Plus my neck hurts. Day keeps getting better and better!

You should burn the apartment complex down when you're done.

That has crossed my mind a coupla times. It has an added bonus: the asshole stays in the same building.

Lost an entire morning of productivity to one of our IT guys running software updates on my system. This bothers me for several reasons:
(1) I am most productive in the morning. I'm practically useless after lunch.
(2) I'm under deadline pressure here. These updates have waited for months... they couldn't give me another week?
and
(3) While it is my work machine, my little ThinkPad and I have been together - in a fully commited relationship - for over 3 years. I realize Bertha isn't technically mine, but I feel so... violated... after someone else has used her. I DON'T LIKE OTHER PEOPLE TOUCHING MY THINGS!

As nice as it is to have other IT people in the workplace so not everything falls on your shoulders (and so someone else understands what you're doing), it can be equally as annoying when they're not on the same page as you. Certain updates are very annoying, as they've been known to break what I'm working on, so I have to spend the day reconfiguring crap.

Updates are a very useful excuse for not getting anything done, though.
Sort of a variant on "compiling".

This makes me glad that all updates happen on weekends here. o.o I don't know what I'd do otherwise, as I too am much more productive in the mornings.
Though, we were out of commission when the servers fried for 3 hours. That was fun though, sat around and played cards while we waited. ;D

There is a difference between installing Windows updates and having to reconfigure the IDE because your coworker did something to the repository or library JARs and forgot to tell you, thus forcing lots of edits to the project code as well.
