More work with VB.NET and our software, working with that one database that I've been working with as well.

Working on a technical assessment for a job application. Also hoping to get some time today to work a little more with the editors that I've been building for my RPG. Didn't get a chance to do anything productive yesterday after spending the majority of the day in the ICU visiting my father. Now that he is doing much better, perhaps I can get something done and keep my mind busy with something other than worrying.

Ohoho! You could have some fun with that!

Did you know that alcohol is fattening because it is the most energy-dense food you can eat? It gives you more calories than fat or sugar!

Did you know that beer is the ultimate energy drink? full of protein, B vitamins, simple and complex carbohydrates, and of course the alcohol- which besides giving you the energy mentioned above, also lowers blood viscosity, thus allowing more efficient bloodflow?

Did you know that red wines also contain these same sugars, giving the same energy, and also contains reserveratrol, which inhibits heart disease and is definitively linked to longer life in populations that consume highly saturated fats (such as cream-based dairy products, especially cheese, and red meats)?

Did you know that the taboo of drunkenness only became widespread after it became possible to distill concentrated alcohols, such as Whiskey (derived from beer) and Cognac Brandy(derived from wine), and that before that time, in virtually every culture that had discovered it, alcohol was drunk in small quantities by the entire population throughout their lives as a staple food product? Did you know that this has been the case since ancient times?

Did you know that alcohol has been brewed around most of the world, more or less constantly, for over 9,000 years?

Have fun with that class. Have a toddy during the test. :)

Edit: Spelling of "Resoveratrol", corrected cognac mistake ("Cognac" is a subset of "Brandy", from the Cognac region of France).

lol, I'm done with the part I can take now. the funniest part was sexual assault section...apparently if 2 drunk people are fucking, you should barge in with a group of friends and stop them from "rapping" each other.

certainly I don't approve of anyone taking advantage of a drunk person but the scenario they gave was funny.

some facts that actually shocked me. 1 and 33 men have been rapped(I forgot the number for women but it was much higher). 1 and 5 women were a victim of childhood sexual abuse. 1 and 7 men were a victim of childhood sexual abuse. I verified those answers online too, the world is a fucked up place.

So, in other words...

I should have a few beers before my 5K in December for energy? Gooot it.

Those zombies won't know what hit them!

To tell the truth, zombies are pretty dumb. They probably wouldn't know what hit them in any case.

Actually one beer before (along with a proper drink of water), and a beer with water when you would otherwise have something like a Gatorade- on the condition that it's of a traditional variety, such as a bitter or stout from the UK and Ireland, or something like a dunkel or a bok from mainland Europe, even things like the eastern European drink kvass are worthwhile in this regard, although they typically have very low alcohol. Lager works but not as well, and many modern beers, particularly American ones, are technically fortified barley wines, and don't have the nutritional value (and give you a headache to boot). I don't know if dark beers are better than light beers, but it doesn't seem like they would be- the black color is a product of the cooking of the barley.

Edit:
@Ish, Friends don't let friends rap while drunk.

Hm. So as long as it's a traditional variety beer... Would Abita's Turbodog qualify, or would the Purple Haze be better? <ponders>

Now I'm honestly curious about this.

@RedYote: Both of those seem like they would work, although you should note that the Purple Haze is a wheat beer and so might have different nutritional value than a normal barley beer.

@Ish: Friends don't let friends attempt the following while drunk.

I inherited a large Joomla project that I have to marry to a database. Well, this would all be easier if Joomla allowed for normal PHP code to be used rather than forcing you to use a framework that I am unfamiliar with. Oh well. I still have 1.5 weeks left.

Perhaps you can outsource it to someone else for a nominal fee?

A few things today... one is trying to keep a sense of decency and not keel over because of lack of sleep and being a big ol stress ball... the second is hoping the error (from photoshop cs2): Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is Unrecoverable. was solved by my uninstalling Wacom's silly plugins (how the hell did they show up?!), and rolling back to a previous driver version... that it will be real when I get home and not just a figment of an over taxed and tired brain... the third is hoping my secret project #2: Wood Woe Wilson looks good in the day light as it did last night... a Tough call on the iridescent levels.. oh well.
