Since this site is populated mostly by Americans (who think a 'good cup of tea' requires boats and angry people dressed as indians), this is absolutely essential reading.
For myself, there are two varieties of tea that I regularly brew. The first is black tea, lot # 3 from horse brand here; it's got more caffeine than most coffees, can be brewed at least twice, and the different chemistry (when compared to coffee) is invigorating, to use the traditional description. I get the same kick of caffeine, but my hands don't shake, and when compared with a cup of coffee of the same temperature and strength, I don't get caffeine sweats or anything like that. It may taste more bitter and less full bodied, but it also never tastes scorched, so that's an improvement.
The other tea that I brew, much less frequently, is the Chinese herb "Ma huang", or Ephedra Sinica. No caffeine, but a mild amphetamine (and the plant has been used as a precursor to the production of methamphetamine). For hopefully obvious reasons, I don't use this tea very often, although you can literally buy bales of it here, and it's a popular tea for street vendors and so on (along with Chrysanthemum and a handful of others).

Nice link.
In defense of Americans, I'd like to say that you can't find a decent cup of coffee in all of the UK. Of course they drink tea. And usually not anything particularly adventurous. Variations of the English blend. And they put dairy in the stuff! Though I do like Earl Grey, the only one the Brits traditionally don't adulterate with moo juice.
Americans like to experience what the world has to offer without actually going there. To this end, you can find pretty much anything on the planet in a reasonably metropolitan area. The chain Teavana can be found in malls. I've linked to the "tea wall" which all the shops have. Some are commercial, some are traditional. Though, looking at the current wall, they seem to have shifted to mostly goofy. Pity, they had some nice mate.

I had mate for the first time about a year ago from my Argentine roommate. Ever since then, I am hooked. It can be a bit bitter, especially for my Americanized taste buds which were raised on sugar, but its delicious and wakes you right up. His family brings it back from Argentina as well, so its good quality!

No need for tea bags
I just throw some loose leaf/flower/root/whatever tea in some boiling water, infuse it for 30 minutes, then drink it! Yum.

I took a moment and looked up the tea that I drink (see below). you can find it on amazon (3 horse brand), it's 15 bucks there, but I think that's to cover shipping as well- costs less than 2 bucks here. If you find it, it's worth a try. Again, very strong stuff.

Black. Coffee. Every. Day. Keurig. <3
Hot tea is more of a cold weather comfort food for me. I drink a fair bit of the stuff in the winter... usually Twinings brand... with one packet of Splenda. No dairy. I hate people who put milk in tea. It annoys me.
Once the thermometer rises above the freezing point, I switch to iced green tea (usually Galliker's Diet). I drink it straight. Sometimes, I chug it directly from the jug. Like a boss.

Brands?
I'll go Twinnigs for the standard oolong style stuff. Earl Grey or English Breakfast. If I'm bothering to make a cup of tea, it's strong enough to peel paint with a little honey.
I like iced green tea. Nothing else; don't put crap in my green tea. If I grab a bottle, it's usually ItoEn. Though harder to find, I also like Suntory. At work I have a stock pile of Yamamotoyama for the water bottle.
However, the standard work drink is black coffee. I have a few Boss Coffees in the work desk for emergencies. Why Asian coffee? The Japanese seem to drink the stuff on a dare rather than love for it. However, it has two ingredients: water, coffee. Sadly, Americans won't usually do that. I order Cool-Brew online and highly recommend it if you like coffee. I have it most mornings. I also make my own concentrate and reuse their bottles.
