This is gonna make me sound like one of those old bastards but when i hear some of the pop crap out there today i really despair for our future. I mean seriously, this crap is horrible but the message it conveys is freakin stupid too. It just seems like all they promote is, hey, drop out, get dumb and get laid.

Did our parents look at our music the same way or has society finally gotten to the point where being a loser is the cool option

Yes. Mine did.

In the 50's Elvis was a dirty dirty man for the way he shook his hips.
In the 60's the Beatles were terrible because their hair covered their eyes.
So on & so forth. The current generation of what is in is always unacceptable when judged to what was previously in.

Yes. Mine did.

Not mine dude. Lucky me. My musical tastes were heavily shaped by my parents.

REM, Queen, The Smiths, The Cure, Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd, Dead Kennedys

My parents are cool

And I got my dad into Rancid, Goldfinger, Reel Big Fish, Green Day, NOFX, the Ramones, and the slew of other crap I grew up listening to.

My mom has gone over to country and it hurts my soul

Good 80's classic.

And I know this is going to make me look like an owl fella. I just like songs with good meanings. :)/> Original was from Cat Stevens I think.

haha wait, this is Cat Stevens, just the wrong picture on the video.
