WHEN was I saying MHz was everything?

I was saying amd's 1.4 is about the same real speed as intel's 2.0. That is true, btw.

Really! What's wrong with getting more MHZ for your buck, AND getting more operations per MHZ?

Check out the Promedia series, but come on, these are only the best computer speakers. You can hook any stereo up to a computer. That means I could have 10'" B&W studio speakers, and some JBL 18 subs and mackie amps hooked up to my computer which would be enough to play in front of a crowd.
Just trying to keep it real,

My computer is soooo hybrid I won't even attempt to recall all it's parts and peices. I built the entire thing for absofriggin FREE, without buying one #### thing, even the monitor. Zip! Zero! Zilch! Nadda! All from comps people had thrown away. Even the monitor was free! (needed the input cable re-wired. Went online, got a diagram, did it myself. Mouse chewed on it.)

AMD K-5 500Mhz overclocked at a steady 650 although at times performance drops to 633 because of heating issues.
96 megs of pc100 ram (waiting for someone to throw me some 128's)
Voodoo 3 vid card

two 1.75 gig hard drives

1 24x CD rom

1 brand spankin "Had too many, here take one to get it out of my face" diamond 56K modem

An Asus...... ah can't recall motherboard,

blah blah blah. You've got the stats.

With all the software tweaks, I can run Quake3 in full screen max rez without ANY slowdown. The vid card is overclocked as well (YES you can overclock the Voodoos) but I can't recall what it's performance is. I haven't opened the computer since Janurary when I completed building it.

I went from a 133Mhz to a 200Mhz to a 233Mhz to a 333Mhz and finally topped out at the limit of what a super7 mo-bo can handle at 500Mhz. Overclocking it was a matter of bridging a couple of pins, and the advice of a shady website, but it worked! Not a penny shelled out for the entire #### thing, and it meets and exceeds all my gaming needs. I think I may have a problem with agame like DAOC (Dark Ages of Camelot) or something, but I haven't tried, so I might be surprised. Most of what I play nowadays is Ultima Online, and good ole super Nes roms anywho. Not real graphically intense!
