Exe created with pyInstaller not opening

Posted 28 April 2012 - 09:38 PM

Followed the tutorial "Making an exe file with Pyinstaller" and the created exe file does not open. No error messages, nothing, just shows the Windows wait cursor then nothing. My Py file is a game made with Python 2.7 and Pygame 1.9.2 on Win 7. The game runs OK in Python. Happy to post more info if needed.

Because you're using pygame, why not use PySetup?

That didn't come up in my Google search. Tried Py2Exe and couldn't get that to work either. Maybe third time lucky. I'll give it a go.
Thanks.

Is PySetup for Linux only or am I missing something? Spent half the day searching and can't find anything about using it on Windows!

The link I gave indicates that PySetup is meant for making windows executables.

That's true but when you dig a bit deeper it's a script for making a Windows exe from a Linux O.S. that the description fails to mention.
The link to the author's home page on the Pygame site is broken so you have to Google for it. Search for 'PySetup on Windows' and all you get is results related to setting up Windows. Search for 'PySetup' then you get all the Linux links for PySetup stuff.
So that for me is a dead end.
Thanks for your interest and suggestions atraub.

pygame2exe worked. Easy to follow script, just fill in your own data.
Thanks atraub
