Got myself a new vid card
Posted 27 October 2001 - 07:17 PM
Well after the LAN game several weeks ago, and my OpenGL shit not working, I decided to buy a new video card. So I got an Nvidia GeForce2 Titanium - 250Mhz Processor - 64MB DDR Memory 256-bit GPU - 100Mhz @ 1600x1200 - Max Res: 2048x1536

Almost every video card has a fan on it now. Even my south bridge has a fan on it, heh.

I think they wanted about 325-350 down at BestBuy yesterday, sounds like a dope card, but I don't have anything that would take advantage of it, Tribes is the only reason I actually got the card, I don't run any other OpenGL software

The only reason you should buy a Geforce 3 is if you're:
(a) Planning for the future, no games use the programmable shaders yet. I'd just save the money and see what's one when the game you want is out. It's like all the people buying P4's now; Intel says that you're planning for the future, when they're going to make your motherboard incompatible shortly, heh.
(b) Developing games. I'm working on a 3D engine in OpenGL now, and I'm stuck with a Geforce 2 (which is great except for its lack of programmable shaders). So, you don't _need_ a Geforce 3 for development even.
