Douglas Adams? I have a copy of that I picked up in Heathrow way too many moons ago. I'd never seen it in the US. Odd the things you remember.
Though, I was thinking of Sniglets. That dude just cranked them out. Last time I saw Rich Hall was, strangely enough, on QI. Guess he did well enough with those books.

LOVE Rich Hall... when he pops up on QI, it just makes my day. He lives half the year in London, the other in Montana... so he shows up on those weird "game/trivia shows" over there a lot.
But yeah, my ex is a huge Douglas Adams fan, she has hitchhiker's guide nearly memorized. I guess she forgot the book on my toilet, makes for good reading material for guests... they seldom ever heard of it.
And speaking of Douglas Adams, I found out where the whale landed:

If you like Meaning of Liff, keep your eye out for the Book of Heroic Failures (released by the "Not Terribly Good Club of Britain"). Another good one to keep handy in the can, but I think it's never been issued in the States.

That's freaky. I like it.
Alas, it makes me think of the Exploding whale. Which, I expect, is closer to a whale's fate moving at terminal velocity, in an environment with thinner atmosphere.

Used to have it... but you know books, people "borrow" them with out asking.
And in this age, the book can be published only in an off corner of Russia and I'm sure I could probably order it.

Never heard the phrase before... urban dictionary says a tea leaf is from rhyming slang for 'thief' -> 'tea leaf'.
But this is better...
Tea-Leafing v. The female version of Tea Bagging. It is when a woman places her genitals on a unknowing and/or unwilling person.

If I caught someone using "tea leafing" in place of "thieving" I do believe my pimp hand would be dusted off and leaving a calling card.

I have no idea what the hell that meant. Sure, if you told me you were from West Egg and threw lavish parties to attract the attention of a shallow blonde broad I might understand, but no... you didn't.

It's the fictional setting for a book that many Americans read in high school. Not too bad a book really, although reading it in high school does tend to ruin a book for you. Have a read.

Teacupping. Seems especially appropriate when you consider that used tea bags look like used tampons and are handled in the same way (although used tampons are only put on the saucer next to your cup on special occasions).
Not to dig up dead parts of the conversation, but 'corn fed' in the contexts I've seen has been in direct reference to fois gras, and in slang I've only seen it used in a similar manner to 'buttering up' someone (flattery before taking advantage of, etc).
Relevant: People who are actually from Cockney and have the accent resent being told they sound like Shrek.
