American money:
Penny = 1 cent
Nickle = 5 cents
Dime = 10 cents
Quarter = 25 cents
Dollar = 100 cents
It's rather metric, I think. One of the easier parts of America to understand.

Unfortunetly the fucktard cashier likely wouldn't understand the metric system either.

I'd be surprised if this morning's fucktard cashier could spell her own name.

I've received the opposite before when I worked at a gas station. I could do math, but the people on the other side of the counter assumed that just because I was behind a cash register I was brain dead and talked to me like I rode the little bus to school. Bitch, I can do rocket science! (or I could, then I forgot x_x)

I probably would have fired her on the spot. There are smarter people in the US that need a job (8.2% unemployment I heard on the news today) and she is just holding everyone else up. Besides if she can't count change then it is going to happen time and time again.
Then when you have two people telling you that you are wrong, you might want to just stop and rethink for a second. If one of those people is your boss, you might want to just drop it and do what they say.

I didn't get a freebie. I was already late for work because of the drive-thru genius. I didn't have time to wait for anything else.
I thanked the manager graciously, politely declined the freebie offer, took my sammich, and went to work.

That's probably the better ending in my opinion. Now the manager sees you leaving disgusted for having to deal with that and that he cannot feel that he made it any better by giving you comp items. He can only feel better about the situation by reprimanding her in some way. Of course it's to the point around here that it seems we're putting these people out at these fast-food restaurants anymore, just by showing up. Probably nothing will change.
I bet she can text with one hand though. Probably what she was doing during the class when they taught how to add coins together.
