Slowly working my way to the top of the food chain

Posted 16 December 2001 - 03:29 PM

Well, all I have to say is im not at, or #### near, the bottom of the food chain as far as best/worst systems go anymore. I just orderd a new motherboard and processor, and my baby will be here in a couple days via air mail :). Granted, im not the best, but #### it's great not being at the bottom anymore. Heres what i ordered...

Abit KT7A 266MHz FSB
VIA KT133A/VIA 686B chipset; 6 PCI slots, 1 AGP slot, 1 ISA slot; 3 x168-pin DIMM sockets up to 1.5GB (Perfect for what i need) 98$

Amd Athlon 1.33ghz 122$

256mb  pc 133 mhz sdram 33$

The whole package cost 271 bux ( including S&H ) Whether or not I got ripped off i don't care anymore ;) But, i thought i had to say something im all excited i wont be running a tin can with a cracker of a motherboard anymore.

So my final system will be as such...

Abit KT7A w/ amd athlon 1.33 ghz
512mb pc133 sdram
Hercules 32mb Graphics card
56k modem :(
56x cdrom
8gb harddrive
32x8x4 CD-RW
A floppy!
logitech optical mouse
Creative Sound system w/ subwoofer

So there are better, but it's not THAT bad :)

Heh heh... well as far as the harddrive goes, yea im going to pretty soon. But really I can do without it for awhile.

It is pretty suprising to see all these threads actually but with christmas coming up and all it kind of makes since. Also, i've been wanting to upgrade for years now. It seems im making a tradition out of upgrading something on my computer once every christmas. Last year it was a graphics card, the year before that it was the cd rw, next year who knows what, maybe graphics and harddrive... :)
