It's here!!!

Posted 09 November 2001 - 12:04 AM

I have a new baby, it's goes by Quicksilver (but I'm thinking of new names for her)

She like to be cuddled cause she's just a babie.

Know what it is yet?

Yes, it's a new PowerMac G4

Specs anyone?
Dual 800 Mhz PowerPC  G4 processors with Velocity Engine
(256 Backside on-chip L2 Cache @ 800 mhz, 2mb of L3 Cache @ 200 mhz)
1,128 mb of PC133 SDRam
1 40 gb HD + 1 15 gb HD
1 Nvida Geforce3 w/ 64 DDRam
1 Combo DVD/CD-RW
1 17" Apple Flat panel display
Gigabit Ethernet
Wacom Intuos Table
Apple Pro Keyboard and Mouse

Soon to be added: (when I get some more money)
Soundblaster LIVE! Soundcard
Klipsch Promedia 4.1 speakers
New Mouse (probably 3 button optical)

I'm pretty much set though.  It's ok, everyone can clean up their drool now. And no "Mac's suck" cause they are industry standard and you can't argue with me. I have an answer for everything.  The only argument that has ever been relavent has been "No 3d Studio Max" but now we have Maya so eat it.

Muahhhhahahahah Muhahahahahha Muhahahahhahaa   <---- Evil Laugh

Pretty nice, but why couldnt you just get all that with a Windows platform? I heard mac's suck ya in and then you'll never recover. hahaaha. But yeah, pretty nice. Im thinking bout buyin dual flat screens shortly. Thats nice :p Currently i got my standard monitor and then thought of the idea of adding another to the right. So i went in the basement and found a extra card and monitor :)

Nothing like the sound of stupidity in the morning.  For the record, both OS 9 and OS X (it's spelled with an X but you say "ten") both had command promps.  And if you are trying to say that you can't put Linux on a mac? AHAHAHAH, That's the stupidest shit I have ever heard.
http://www.linuxppc.org AND   http://www.tuxppc.org/  AND http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/   There are so many others as well.  Next time, instead of making me laugh, try and actually getting your facts straight.

On to the Dell thing:
May 1998 - Apple Introduces the iMac, a small consumer targeted computer with built in ethernet, modem, compact keyboard, and USB only expansion, no slots, no built-in floppy.  Moves to ground breaking "fruity" colors in January of 1999

November 1999 - Dell introduces the WebPC: a small consumer targeted computer with built in ethernet, modem, compact keyboard, and USB only expansion, no slots, no built-in floppy.  Oh, did I mention it had 4 different colors to choose from?

Jan '99 - Apple introduces the blue and white G3 with easy open case.  In Septmeber same case goes Graphite for the G4

Sept 2000 - Dell ships the OptiPlex GX 150 - a desktop with a P3, daring new color scheme (well, grey is daring compared to beige, right?) and a case that opens like a suit case without tools.

Jan - 99 Apple fully imbraces a brave new world of computer visual design and banishes beige from it's entire product line.

Sept - 2000 More than a year and a half after Apples announcement, Dell boldly states that it too will retire beige from it's product line, but not until August of 2001 (now that's a long good bye!)

July of '99 - Apple introduces the iBook, a low cost laptop in 2 fun colors.

Sept of '99 - Dell unveils the Inspiron 3700, a low cost laptop in 2 colors: Storm Grey and Tahoe Blue (otherwise known as drab and less drab)

July 1999 - While showing off the iBook, Steve Jobs takes the wraps off Airport. A cheap and easy wireless networking system.  The iBook was the first laptop with integrated antennas.

Sept 1999 - Michael Dell bundles an AiroNet PC card  with Dell's  business laptops.  It's clunky, cost 4x as much as an Airport.  But, in the July/August issue of Technology Review, Mike Dell states, "We were the frist to integrate wireless into notebooks, with integrated antennas."
Ah, if it weren't for Apple, where would you PC guys get all your ideas?
And yes, I've seen the George forman Grills too, but we are talking computers and the above is spooky.
Don't even get me started on XP.

As for just getting the windows platform on my Mac, I already got it. http://www.connectix...ucts/vpc4m.html

It's ok, I know you guys are just trying to find things wrong with it cause your jealous.  Like I said,  you can't argue with me, it's been tried time and time before and it never gets anywhere.  I know my shit.

Yea no kidding you no your shit man ;) Well, to be honest the one and only reason i dislike macs is they are not gaming machines. And no matter how much you argue about everything else, I know my games :). But, im not disagreing with you at all, that is a #### nice machine, but id prefer a not-so-mackish computer ;)

I will give you that. They are not made for games, but there are quite a few games on the Mac (Age of Empires 2, UT, Q3, Dues Ex, I'm sure there are more, but I'm not into games), and there are lots of MacEmulators for PSX, N64, Dreamcast what have you. So, yes, they are not as good for games as they are for PC's, but. . . they are not bad computers.

Yea, I thought you had an answer for EVERYTHING :) Nah, I'm not much of a mac person but they do have some good systems, cough the one you got cough and like you said the emulators. There are a lot of good games for em, just not as many. But, if there were, on that system they would rock!

Of course, im saying this now but in the future im sure ill probably be owning one :)

ok, i dont own one, but im a big fan of macs, think about this, overall hardware, no os, they just kick major ass, then, add an awesome, stable operating system, like 10.1, and youve got a kick ass system, specially if your doing audio and video stuff.

also, i grew up on macs, i didnt own a real pc until this last janurary, before that, it was all the macs at my middle skool, where i helped out the tech lab. what i had at my house, was an old ibm with windows 3.1, which really didnt interest me at all...
