If I want to run Windows and Linux on the same pc will it be much slower? Im studying VB at the moment so I cant realy get rid of Windows. Is there a way that I can load the dot net framework on Linux?

why would your computer be slower? you would only run 1 OS at a time, all it really needs is a little hard drive space.
I do not know about loading the .net framework in Linux

Correct. The Operating System speed is based on your amount of system resources (processor & ram), & other than using an emulator (http://bochs.sourceforge.net), you can't run more than one OS at a time.

The Mono project for linux provides a .NET runtime environment.

If you've got money to spend though, check out Real Basic
The Mono project will build a windows executable, while Real Basic will build you a native binary. It will also cross compile.
