what do you call a 3D shape which has faces all of the same number of sides?

is there a formula for knowing the number of faces?

i feel this isn't enough to start a new topic

Hmmm... Poly: More than one... So polyhedra would be more than one instance of hed: That's always a good thing.

If there is a formula that will tell you the number faces from the number of sides on each face it will probably not give you a complete answer. For example, a tetrahedron, octahedron, and icosahedron (20) can all be made of equilateral triangles.

I have a formula, it's in their names...

tetrahedron - tetra means 4

hexahedron - hexa means 6

octahedron - octa means 8

dodecahedron - do (two), deca(10), dodeca (12)

icosahedron - icosa means 20

As for the concave kepler-poinsot polyhedra, no, because each shape is concave and are named after the Platonic Solid they are stellating. Though of course if you know the specific way you've stellated, and the starting platonic solid, then yes... you should be able to figure it out algorithmically.
