Go go go away Windows Gadgets

Posted 12 July 2012 - 10:48 AM

This is fascinating: Microsoft fix kills Windows Gadgets, warns it could lead to PC hijacks.

One, because it's exceptionally draconian. "Hey, you know that OS feature you liked. All the eye candy you thought enhanced your Windows desktop experience? Yeah, we killed that. Now Windows is even safer!"

Two, because I kind of thought Gadgets were a glimpse at Windows 8. They are little Javascript/HTML driven programs that live on the desktop and interact with the OS. Much like, oh, Windows 8 is supposed support.
