Anyone got an old H/D?

Posted 26 June 2001 - 08:29 PM

I need to see who'd be willing to sell me an old hard drive they've got lying around. I've got two 133Mhz computers that I'm assembling, and am planning on turning into either a webserver and a file server, or one file server, and one to run as my firewall screen. Go blackice defender!! I'm looking for a couple of 2gig H/D's or better, and looking to pay maybe.... 5 to 10 bucks a pop for em. Also let me know about any spare computer parts you've got lieing around, no matter how old or outdated. Well, nothing smaller than a pentium as far as processors go at least. I mean even I have my standards. heh heh

hey! my current BeOS server is only a 486/DX4.  then again, with such a 'superior' OS i don't need that much for overhead ^_^.

likewise, if ya'll got 'old' parts (anything as far back as an IBM XT/AT/PC) i might be interested.  their still good for 'things'

i'm thinking the 2Gig+ HDDs would be worth more than 2-5 bucks to collectors... they're almost antiques!

oh i dunno... it's worth more to me as a bookend... i have a pair of fully functional ones... but when you have more RAM than HDD space, it's time to upgrade.

I can't imagine having a computer with less than 7GB in it, all my apps fill up 5GB as it is, wow... how did I manage to live with a mere 200MB *remembers he has one sitting in his bookcase, as a bookend:)*

I don't think so. Don't ever forget the good old 8080 and 8068/8088 series processors. got to love a computer without any hard disk.

Cheers Sam.
