Dreamweaver Crew in the Hizzel!
/me does secret handshake with sloth.
;)

Dude, if you are going to get a MB that supports SDRam Get 1 GB (It's so amazingly cheap right now, why not? I still haven't heard a good reason.)
If you get a MB that supports DDR, just get 256.

Can we all pretty much agree on the above?

VIM is all you need for HTML ;). Hey, it's what I use. If you don't know what VIM is, think: crossplatform notepad on steroids.

What motherboards support them?  Can any T-bird Mobo's support Athlon XPs?

must you "keep up with the jones'"?  buy the board you want that only takes a t-bird.  when you'e ready to upgrade again they probably won't have the AthlonXp's anymore anyway.

A T-Bird board should work fine with an Athlon MP from what I've heard (I refuse to call them Athlon XP's, ick).

I'm thinking that he's talking about 2 different computers. He's got the one now that's running out of HD space, and he's asking about buy parts for a new one he's going to assemble.

oh.  well, he should be more clear on that.  sloth is right, RAM is useless if you don't have any room to put stuff.

Alright, lemme clear all this up right now...my current computer is from dell.  The computer I'm buying would be all new...except I wouldn't have my modems or a sound card, so...this new computer is built off new and some parts I already have.  (Anyone that's a hardware freak, I have a mobo, case, and integrated graphics card with your name on it.)

I want that RAM because things are going to be more demanding soon.
And, my current hard drive is really bothering me, I'm very sure it's corrupted because a few things are mysteriously dissappearing here and there, and a few other little details that I won't go into, but fact is, I'm still under parts warranty with dell, so I'll most likely be calling them and seeing about getting a replacement.
(And no, ScanDisk isn't finding errors on a thorough scan.)

Also...I need someone to suggest a new case for me...the one I wanted has a different I/O back panel configuration than the mobo I'll be getting has.

a different I/O back panel?  what are you talking about bro?  you can't do that.  the ATX form factor is a standard for a reason.  most new cases support multiple revisions or ATX... is that what you're talking about?

and a mobo with integrated anything is for the birds!

as far as the hard drive... gateway has a HD scanning utility.  i'm sure dell has one they'll have you run before they replace it.  then again if you're talking to someone in bangladesh... :)

^ ehhh...apparently my friend is using the same case and mobo I'm getting and he says it works so..., I looked at a graphic of where the case has the I/O panels, then looked at the mobo, (from a side view) and something seemed wrong...but he's saying no so...nm about all that

and a mobo with integrated anything is for the birds!
^ I learned that the hard way :(

^ Yeah...dell has quite a few scanning utilities, including one that runs in DOS, full scan revealed NOTHING.  Even though there are things going wrong...ugh.
