Dear members,

I had an old, well working MacBook from late 2006 with an Intel core 2 Duo CPU with Intels integrated GPU. Now, with the Mac OS X Mountin Lion comming out, it seems that Apple have decided that I can afford a new Mac if I want the latest.

I can run Windows 7 on an old IBM that is now 11 years old (IBM X30). OK, it don't go fast, far from it with it's old Pentium III processor.

Now, what is my point? My question is if anyone have tried installing the latest OS from Apple on old Macs with 64-bit CPU, I.E. Intel core 2 Duo or later?

No, I know very few people who own macs that bother upgrading them for the simple fact that they view apple is toss and go products. I personally dont have that kind of money to toss away systems such as Apple seems to always want you to do, so I would simply never buy a mac.

DarenR, a interesting input. I found an image that illustrate how you upgrade a Mac.



That is one reason I do not like Apple products. I can run Windows 7 on an old IBM X30 that is from 2002 and running a Pentium III (that is 3!) humming on 1,2 GHz.
