College Rant

Posted 07 June 2007 - 10:41 AM

Some people at dream.in are super coders and some here are fresh to the programming world, but obviously you guys each have a story so...

Tell me how you all got intrested in programming and describe a bit how it happened and where/what you studied + any random favorite moments for you?

I was working as a researcher in a physics lab (I was the mathematician), I needed some small programs to run numbers for me (the grunt work, as it were). Programming intrigued me. I got into it pretty heavily, left the lab, went back to school for Computer Engineering.

not in college, university. I have liked programming and making computers do things since the C64 @ about age 7, now finishing my BCS, and hoping to get a real job.

I'm still in school, getting destroyed by java but hoping to move to c++ soon, but I haven't seen a tutorial that takes you from the easiest thing in c++ to do to a little bit harder...please if your nice post a link to a tutorial...want to get that nice coding action going.

what?

what is the easiest thing? The reason you haven't seen a tutorial on it, is because it is too vague and would require 15 pages of pure writting before even talking about code. Be specific and your problems are much more easily solved.

never went to college in the traditional sense never needed to still make better then median for my salary range. All the benefits none of the student loans and better respect because I have to be better then everyone else because I clawed to get where I am.

And that is why I have a jump start on life that will take most college graduates 20 years to make up.
