Now there's a quandry, what if you travel back to a time before your patent and someone finds your machine and replicates it?
Can you get special time travel patents that effect the past? If so you already have your patent.

You'll have to let the court decide whether the patent itself is valid throughout time. Better hire a good lawyer.
