That's weird I was thinking this recently too...I guess I'm not the only sad git out there.
What you need is a deadmans handle on your always on PC . If you don't put in a password every week or month or whatever it sends out posts to all kinds of places telling people you are dead.

I've seen deadmans handle software that will shred your hard drive if you don't enter a password after a configurable amount of days. It's for the paranoid I suppose.
