PC PROBLEM

Posted 18 July 2007 - 05:34 PM

I am currently encountering a problem with a PC which at first, rebooted before successfully logging in. I ten logged on through the safe mode, restored previous settings and after that it seemed to be working fine.

Now what it does when logging in is, it keeps on restarting before logon is complete and it does this even with safe mode.

Please help, I don't want to format the PC,coz I dont have backup of my files.Help!

Have you made any changes to the PC lately? Have you installed any software?

best bet is to pull the drive out stick it in another PC as a slave back up your important stuff wipe it and reload

If you dont have access to another pc you may be able to get away with a repair install. Using your OS disk the only bad thing is that if you stored your stuff in the default places under your profile then that would be over written

Dont forget to run a virus scan on that drive before you copy stuff over to your clean workstation

Have you tried running the XP scan & repair, booting off the XP cd? 9 times out of 10 this has fixed XP OS issues on PCs I've given up on.

I was just wondering if when THE_RAM said PC that that meant Windows? I assumed that PC was referring to a system that could run Windows, which could also run Linux. If my ignorance betrays me, please correct me..
