Anti-Virus: Kapersky
the software can be set in two modes where it alerts you to everything opr it does it itself quietly. It scans everything and lets you noe if a virus starts running and where it is and lets you chose to delete it or quarentine it.
I've used it for about a year and its reliable and catches everything thats tried to get into my computer

Buy the AVG Anti Virus Professional. A two year subscription for one computer is $40. For one year it's $30.
Or you can get the internet security version for $53 or $70 for one or two year subscriptions.

Macfee - junk. It is a system resource hog, Macfee is slow to update their software with definitions, and it cost way to much.
Norton - Home Editions - Junk same issues as Macfee but Norton has good support
Norton - Enterprise Solutions - Great some of the best anti-virus software out their. Total different from the home user editions (great support, fast at scanning, and cost is fairly decent per machine)
NOD32 - Great . Was originally created as a enterprise solution but they have branched out into the home user area. Their software is quick. great support, and cost is decent
AVG - Great - Free, fast, and works very well. Support is really not good like most free software
Personally though I think most anti-virus software is a waste. You can kinda compare it to weight loss diets and just losing weight
People go on these crazy diets because they dont have the self control, time, or just dont feel like they cant just work out. What they dont understand/think is if you work out every other day, eat healthy, and monitor their daily intake, they can loss weight. So instead they pay money for some food that forces them to eat right and they still dont work out so its a waste.
I compare this to Anti-virus software because people think they will just get a virus, worm, or what ever. What most dont realize is if you are just careful you can be just as safe without the anti-virus software. I dont run any on any of my home machine (laptop, desktops, and servers) and have yet to have a virus or issue. I am just careful of what I open and download. So I think anti-virus software is just a waste of money.
Not everyone is think is careful as me since I have 1 dedicated computer off my network that all my download information gets run on first. When I mean everything I mean everything. I download it on that box first which is subnetted off my network and test everything before using it. It actually is better then anti-virus software because I have nothing important on the computer so if it gets infected some how I can just re-image it within 30min so its great. But I am a bit crazy with that stuff
