XP Problems

Posted 14 March 2002 - 08:14 PM

My computer has been giving me a lot of trouble recently. Particularly with my modem and cd burner.

-My modem only works with aol(no other isp will see it)
-My cd rom drive will read but won't even see the cd when it is time to write.

I think it might be a driver issue.  Does anyone know anything that might help me.

p.s.-if needed i can give more details of problems

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

A lot of users have reported simlar problems. I had to get a 'XP' driver from my CD Burner's manufacter's site. You may check tosee if the makers of your problem hardware have 'XP' drivers available. That's probably your best bet, other than scanning MS user group boards and newsgroups. Try it and see if that is the answer.

As a side note: I can't imagin the ISP being the problem with modem. Just doesn't make sense. *shrugs*

-as for the driver ideas. I have tried that. Where the modem is concerned their maker's website is a mess and i couldn't get anything from it.  But my burning software is bootlegged and i can't get help from them.

-and the modem. I can't figure out.  Aol works fine.  But netzero, juno, and any kind of dial-up network doesn't even see the modem at all.

What about a local ISP? Some one that doesn't have all that BS software.

Yeah, try buying/stealing  new software for the burner. Older apps are less XP friendly.
