Well "find" is a function within Explorer.exe, which I believe is the shell, by replacing it (the shell) with litestep you can only link to explorer as the file manager. I think the only way to use the "find" function is to have explorer.exe running. I came to this conclusion by running Msinfo32.exe on a machine with "find" function up and running. If you view the Software Enviroment under Running Tasks you'll see nothing for the "find." I double checked it by quitting "find" and nothing in running tasks changed. I sent an email to M$ Support, if I get a response from a human I'll let you know the result, but I'm about 99.9% sure this is correct. You can also try contacting the author of the theme for help, they are usually pretty helpful. Further Contact info should be in the theme readme file, ICQ # I think is in there.

BTW, I spent well over 2 days trying to get you this answer..... Didn't mean to leave you hang'n. Just sorry it's not the result you needed.

One other thing you may want to check, see if there is a script available to replace this action.

http://www.litestep.net

I checked this site around 3:10pm EST and it was down for upgrades. Look later and see if you find anything.

you're right slash.  the find function is part of explorer itself.  doing some digging in the registry reveals that it's the shell32.dll file that determines the state of the explorer window to appear in when you click on find.  i'm sure there will be a LS script out there that has fixed this problem.

I wouldn't give up on litestep so easily, there a tons of themes, scripts, and warfs out there to fit most of your needs. If you really like it, try'n stay with it for a bit.

Unless you have other issues w/ it....?

i blew off litestep while i was still running 2k.  i was even using some of the themes that they recommended for new users.  if you want to customize windows further, try Stardock's ObjectDesktop suite.
