I found "All Systems Red" to be a fun lazy day read.

Looks like a good children's books box set.

I recall reading and enjoying Neuromancer in 2002 or so. But that's all I remember.
I wonder if any of Gibson's speculation has come true.

I think he'd say a lot of it has. Not in the details, but the ideas. At some point he transitioned from writing "futuristic" to stuff that felt very contemporary - when he was asked about this, he said that he was still writing the same stuff, it was just that we'd caught up to that future.

Of course, his most recent one (the Peripheral) puts him squarely back on the science fiction shelf, so maybe he's going through another phase change.

I've been reading Nygaard's Release It!, though I'm only a couple chapters in. Afterwards, I'm sure I'll find something else to read, but I want to reread Beck's Test-Driven Development: By Example. It was how I learnt TDD, but I didn't actually read the entire thing and I wonder how my perspectives will have changed.

I finally grew tired of waiting for Origin and American Gods to come back around from the public library's audiobook library (it's been what? A year-ish and I'm still on the waiting list)... so I broke down and just bought them. Nothing makes you feel old quite as fast as buying books on CD. Streaming it is hip and cool, swapping discs in the CD player in the middle of rush hour traffic is considerably less so.

However, I've finished Origin. It was .... odd. For a Dan Brown book, I mean. It didn't have the same heart-racing drive as his other works have had. Overall, I liked it, it was just not as intense as I had expected. I'm about halfway through American Gods and picking up SO MANY details I didn't notice the first time around.

Reading The Uninhabitable Earth. Sounds like science fiction, but it isn't.

If you know anyone who's contemplating having kids, they should read this first.

FINALLY finished American Gods. It was good. It didn't end the way I wanted it to, but I can't say I didn't see the ending coming a mile away. So it goes.

Now I need to decide what I want to dig into next.

b9 - https://en.wikipedia...iki/Anansi_Boys ?

Finished up Book 2, ACadem's Fury in the Jim Butcher "Codex Alera" series.. not bad.. more politic'ing as it takes story to the big city.

Switched up gears for Richard Kadrey's "The Everything Box". Kinda like Sandman Slim series with magic in LA, but thief's POV.

Hmm... not available in audiobook format from my local library. I'll have to search around for it, but it's definitely been added to the crap-I-want-to-read list. In the meantime, I've downloaded Water for Elephants. I don't know anything about it except that I've heard the title a few times. It might suck. We're about to find out.

Hopefully it turns out like Elephantmen the comic book series.
