I need to repair SP2

I need to repair my SP2 installation, but my CD will only install it. Can someone render some assistance? Very much appreciated.

I don't think you can "repair" SP2 (I could be wrong). I think it has to be uninstalled then re-installed. You did have it backup your system in case you had to remove it didn't you?

same here i think sp2 cannot be repaired. try uninstalling it then install again. better yet reformat your pc. but dont forget to back up your files..:D

This is assuming that you can't boot off your current PC.

Boot off the XP install disc & choose to repair. From the command prompt issue chkdsk /r, this will check the hard drive for errors. Next reboot off the cd again, continue to the next screen & issue the XP repair. This will replace Windows DLLs & such, to how they are on the cd. At 1st it will look like it's doing an install, but as long as you selected R for repair, you are safe, it's only effecting the OS & non of your other files. If this fixes your pc & you can boot into XP, you can then go to Microsoft.com & install SP2 again.
