make sure your cdrom boots before your hard drive, check in your bios. i normally make mine boot like this
1st Floppy
2nd CDROM
3rd HDD-0

try that, i was having the same problem with mandrake

You can make a boot diskett from the cd. Goto the directory boot and there should be instructions in there.

Sorry I was wrong they don't have instructions on the CD... It is like this:

1) Open a cmd prompt
2) >D:
3) >cd dosutils
4) >rawrite
Enter image source: ..imagesboot.img
Enter target drive: a:
Insert dist blah blah... [ENTER]

That will copy the boot loader onto the disk.

Cheers Sam :)

ok, i got it to boot with sam's instructions. but im having problems with the partitioning. it always says "Could nto allocate requested partitions. Partitioning failed: Could not allocate partitions as primary partitions." right now the whole drive is dedicated to windows xp, so im grabbing partitiong magic 7 to set up a 10gig space for red hat. its taking forever though.

* remembers an arguement with SlashRaid a while back on fdisk vs. partition magic *

Fdisk/diskdruid woun't allow you to resize NTFS partitions or fat for tham matter I believe.

Cheers Sam

heheh, and what do you know, i'm on NTFS. :o

ok, yea, i got it to install, got as far as inputting the second disk, then like, the 4th file on the second disk, some stupid screensaver, won't install. i went back into windows, burned another copy of the iso, same thing. i think i need to get the second disk again. bah.

but yea, partitiong magic and such worked, as did the boot disk, so yea, i guess i'm making progress. :none:

:) Did you try disabling the install of xscreensavers. GO to costom install and select "choose packages" than look for xscreen savers or something simailar. It might work then, but most likely you've got it right that you need another copy of the iso. :none:
