You can get them to 5GB...IF you can manage to get a VP level patron to go to bat for you. Meanwhile, when I naively asked during a 20 person group conference call if maybe I should drive down to Microcenter and pick up a 1TB external drive they could simply USB plug into our server for less than $100, I was told "that's not the way we do things here".

Forget a 1TB drive, just use an 8 gb thumb drive. SSD man, on the cheap.

I actually had this situation once myself. They were losing thousands per day because of storage space. Yes, I understand it's a band-aid solution. But it buys you time to pull your head out of your ass & correctly provision the project.

QUIT MAKING ME DO THIS WITH MY HANDS TIED!

I won't bother to share with you my recent task to put together a "wishlist" of all the resources I'll need to build out sites after the new year. The short explanation is that they hired me as a CF dev and I know exactly what they want and I've been doing this kind of work for awhile now. So, I know exactly what I need to do the job. Turns out, my needs didn't cost enough so the spreadsheet was quietly sent back while being told "I'd allocated $50K in resource expenses and your list doesn't hit even 1/5 of that".

Color me surprised that I had no idea I'd need a new SAN array to build a corporate intranet site...but lo and behold, it seems I do.

Wow.

At the job I was recently let go from, part of the perceived 'worthlessness' of my team was that our operating costs kept going down as I built up the application we used for our processes. When I got with the DB2 admins to get data from their databases instead of running jobs directly on the mainframe to pull data, it saved us money because we weren't using that processor time. When I integrated our alerting through our I3 Phone System instead of using a third party service that charged per-call, it saved us money. But what they came back with was "you guys don't do anything!"

Of course, I still have eyes on the inside there. Apparently they're barely keeping their heads above water now.

And where I'm at with my black box issue, it's because it's a customer system, not corporate incompetence. We have a way to test, I'm told, and we're working on figuring out what that is. -.-

I started at 7:30.

Our office is being closed due to inclement weather. Yay early weekend I guess?

I'm useless right now, my brain is fried

The heater is not working in my office. I'm wearing a winter coat and my hands keep slowing down from being cold. If I didn't have a release due by EOB today, I would be gone already. Yay for OT though, I'm earning it today....

Well, a bunch of people got kicked out of the building for bad weather and power surges. I am the lucky person who gets to lock the building all week so I am stuck since outsiders are still in the building doing training. Oh well, luck of the draw I guess. Maybe, I can get it back next week when I take off for a few hours to watch my daughters Christmas thing at school.

Finishing up some Feature Updates and waiting for the work day to end. The Winter has caused issues in southern MO so I cannot drive to the homestead this evening to retrieve my shiny new 24" Acer Monitors (got them for $110 a piece on Black Friday) this evening.

Guess instead my Girlfriend and I are gonna do a simple Movie and Pizza night ^^

By the way, for anyone interested, Domino's is doing a special through December 8th that any pizza ordered online is 50% off menu price. You're welcome.

Does that make you 50% more likely to buy me a pizza?

Haha, I'll make you a deal depricated: Gift Exchange. I'll get you a Pizza of your choice in exchange for a 6 pack of Stella Artoise.
